1.DESCRIBE THE ROLES AND PURPOSE OF DATA WAREHOUSE AND DATA MART IN A ORGANIZATION.

The roles and purpose of data warehouse and data marts in a organization

Data Warehouse is a logical collection of information to gathered the information from many different operational database. It's support business analysis activities and decision making tasks. The primary purpose of a data warehouse is to aggregate information throughout an organization into a single repository for decision making purposes.
  • Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL)—A process that extracts information from internal and external databases, transforms the information using a common set of enterprise definitions, and loads the information into a data warehouse.
  • Data Mart—Contains a subset of data warehouse information.

2. EXPLAIN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE AND A DATA WAREHOUSE


BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE

It's refers to Information that people use to support their decision-making efforts.
In modern businesses, increasing standards, automation, and technologies have led to vast amounts of available information.
Business Intelligence has now become the art of sifting through large amounts of data, extracting information, and turning that information into actionable knowledge.

Business intelligence is the leveraging of data warehouse to help make business decisions and recommendations.Information and data rules engines are leveraged here to help make these decisions along with statistical analysis tools and data mining tools.
Business intelligence is much like ERP in that it can be extremely expensive and invasive to your firm and there is a wide range between the offerings - low end to high end- which facilities the pricing.There are also services that provide this as and outsource. Some of these services will allow you to eventually 'own' the solution and in-source it at a future data.

 MULTIDIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS AND DATA MINING




Data Mining—The process of analyzing data to extract information not offered by the raw data alone.
To perform data mining users need data-mining tools:-
Data-Mining Tool—Uses a variety of techniques to find patterns and relationships in large volumes of information and infers rules that predict future behavior and guide decision making.

An organization must maintain high-quality data in the data warehouse

INFORMATION CLEANSING ACTIVITIES


Information Cleansing or Scrubbing—A process that weeds out and fixes or discards inconsistent, incorrect, or incomplete information.
